Goa State Pollution Control Board will soon launch an app and supporting software which will enable all citizens to read the air quality of their area.
The app will also allow users to submit complaints regarding air pollution. GSPCB has currently invited quotations from the interested
software firms for designing the app as per the specifications, terms and conditions by October 23.
Goa’s app is likely to be modelled on the prototype of the SAMEER App launched by the Central Pollution Control Bureau (CPCB) which disseminated air quality data of over 100 cities in the country.
SAMEER also allows members of the public to submit complaints about all categories of pollution.
GSPCB’s app will be supported across Android and iOS platforms. The app developers will have to collect data from the Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations and display the Air Quality Index for state level, district level and taluka level.
Health warnings will accompany this data and the app will also allow comparison between two stations.
