The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has issued a public notice urging all stakeholders involved in handling non-ferrous metal scrap”such as copper, aluminium, lead, and zinc”to prepare for compliance with the newly introduced Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) norms.
These regulations, issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on July 1, 2025, will come into effect on April 1, 2026.
The amended rules, published as Gazette Notification introduce EPR obligations for the management of non-ferrous metal scrap.
The GSPCB has emphasized the importance of stakeholders registering on the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) EPR portal and adhering to the compliance framework.
In addition to the public notice, the GSPCB has released a tender inviting proposals from agencies or service providers to assist in implementing, monitoring and ensuring compliance with the new EPR norms in Goa.
The tender seeks support in areas such as capacity building, data management and coordination with the CPCB.
