Admitting that development has eluded Mapusa, Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo said he would play a pivotal role in the ensuing civic elections in the commercial town of North Goa.
“Of course, I will play a lead role in the Mapusa Municipal Council elections,” said Lobo, while speaking to journalists along the sidelines of the Liberation Day function in Mapusa.
He said he has taken up the issue of the Mapusa bus-stand with the chief minister and work on the construction of a shade and sitting arrangement at the new site is expected to begin very soon.
“Along with the local MLA Joshua D’Souza, I have spoken to the CM who has agreed to sanction funds for the bus-stand. We will construct a shade and provide sitting and toilet facility at the new bus-stand site. The tourists that arrive at the bus-stand at least need these basic facilities,” he said.
According to the minister, the pandemic struck and work on the project got stalled just when discussions on the Mapusa bus-stand was taking place.
He further disclosed that another round of talks on the new bus-stand was recently held with the CM where the Mapusa MLA was also present.
