Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldesai demanded RORO ferries, capable of carrying over 20 vehicles, to be deployed on the Chorao, Divar ferry routes, which face huge demand during peak times.
Raising the issue of ramps, Faldesai demanded that the height of the same be raised so that river water does not overflow over the ramp.
“When the tide rises the river water floods the ramp and overflows onto the road making it impossible for people to access the ferry,” he stated.
The MLA also said there were several cases where people whose loved ones succumbed to covid are yet to receive compensation.
He also sought a hike in the amount of Dayanand Samajik Suraksha Scheme (DSSS).
“They can't even buy tablets with the money they receive. It is imperative that this amount is hiked by the government,” he said.
