The Pomburpa-Olaulim village panchayat has revoked the stop work order issued against a proposed construction project of a residential house and staff quarters of renowned fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani.
In a statement, the panchayat informed that a stop work order for the project was issued on August 30 under Section 64(1) of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994, following complaints from locals regarding the development in Salvador-do-Mundo village. This was followed by a joint site inspection from the deputy town planner at Mapusa earlier this month, who confirmed the completion of the site inspection and conveyed that the findings were clear.
During the meeting on November 13, the panchayat unanimously resolved to revoke the stop work order. The panchayat pointed out that the project proponent had applied for and obtained all the licenses and permissions from various authorities, including the panchayat, TCP, health and forest departments.
“At its meeting held on 13.11.2023, upon consideration of the totality of facts, licenses and permissions issued to Tahiliani, the Panchayat body found that there was no “unauthorised construction” work undertaken by him at Salvador do Mundo and has unanimously resolved to revoke the Stop Work Order dated August 30,” the panchayat said.
