Quepem locals baffled over conflicting Covid results on 8-month-old baby

Locals in Quepem have been baffled over conflicting Covid results on an 8-month-old baby girl, who died after reportedly testing positive for Covid.

According to sources, the baby reportedly had some congenital liver-related issues and had been admitted at Hospicio Hospital Margao for treatment on October 2.

“As her condition deteriorated, the baby was shifted to GMC hospital on October 3, where she succumbed to the illness,” said the source.

“What has confused people is that the baby had tested negative for Covid at the Hospicio on October 2, but when she had tested positive at GMC hospital on October 3,” the source added.

“Locals in the area are confused over the conflicting reports issued by the two authorities,” the source added.

Meanwhile, sources said the final rites were performed in Quepem on Monday.
