Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar on Thursday condemned the arrest of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi by the Uttar Pradesh Police when Rahul and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi were on their way to Hathras to meet the family of the 19 year-old girl who was brutally raped and murdered.
“Under which law were they arrested? Why are they not allowed to meet the victim's family? Is this the new ‘Beti Bachao’ of the BJP government?” questioned Kamat.
GPCC president Chodankar also criticized the move and stated, “Today, in BJP Raj, sharing grief has become a crime in India. The voice of an outraged nation can't be suppressed with high-handedness.”
