Curtorim Independent MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has requested the government to instruct the Department of Social Welfare and the Department of Women and Child Development to immediately release the funds of DSSS to the beneficiaries and also disburse the financial assistance under Laadli Laxmi. In a statement, he said that people from Curtorim constituency as well as from the other parts of Goa have brought to his notice their concerns that they have not received their monthly Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS) till date beginning from the month of January 2022. He further said there has been no disbursement of benefits of the Laadli Laxmi Scheme since 2018.
“It is given to understand that this vital DSSS stipend of Rs 2,000 to the poor and to the marginalised section of the society was last paid for the month of December 2021 in the month of February 2022. The beneficiaries of the DSSS are facing a tough time due to the non-receipt of the amount for the past five months. The said DSSS payment aids the economically weaker section of the society to tide over their day-to-day expenses including medical expenses,” he said.
Reginaldo said he has been informed that applications submitted after marriage for Laadli Laxmi Scheme have last crossed more than 81000 for sanctioning with the Directorate of Women and Child Development (WCD). Similarly, all those who applied after completing 18 years of age are around 71000 applicants awaiting sanctioning from WCD.
