Retaining wall to be built along Sanquelim-Virdi road

BICHOLIM

Sanquelim Municipal Council (SMC) Chairperson Rashmi Desai has said a retaining wall will be constructed along the Sanquelim-Virdi road to avoid further danger to houses lying at the bottom of the valley.

A landslide on Sanquelim-Virdi road on Thursday had endangered the lives of villagers residing on the bottom of the valley.

A major tragedy was avoided as the trees prevented the boulders from crashing down on the house of Laxman Desai.

“A retaining wall will be constructed with the help of PWD. An electricity pole which was damaged was also replaced on Friday. Presently, barricades have been placed in this area and the locals have been told to remain alert,” said Rashmi Desai.
