RGP lauds Naik’s comments on priority to Goans

PANAJI

Welcoming the statement of Union Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik that Goans should be given priority in jobs, the Revolutionary Goans Party has said the minister should take up the issue regularly and not just before the elections.
"We are happy that BJP has also started taking the same issue that has been raised by RGP,” said St Andre’s RGP MLA Viresh Borkar.
RGP has appealed to the BJP to support the Person Of Goan Origin (POGO) bill that will be introduced by the RGP in the upcoming assembly session.
"The BJP should support the POGO bill. The system should change to get preference for Goans in the jobs,” said Borkar.
Borkar said 99 per cent of people from outside the State have been recruited in industries and other public sector units in Goa.
Borkar said many Goan youths have been harassed by companies, compelling them to quit their jobs.
“Since there are no jobs here, Goans have been forced to go outside in search of jobs. Local MPs Shripad Naik and Francis Sardinha should raise the issue of jobs to Goans on all forums continuously and the issue should not be raised before election, not for the sake of elections,” said Borkar.
He said that the POGO bill has been drafted by the RGP and will be tabled in the upcoming assembly session.
"All 40 MLAs will get to study the bill and they must support the bill,” he said.
