A 41-year-old man from Advalpal-Bicholim was seriously injured in a hit-and-run mishap on the national highway at Bastora on Thursday morning.
The accident took place at a stretch between Bastora and Guirim at around 7.45 am when Mahesh Warak was proceeding towards Panaji on his motorcycle. An unidentified vehicle is reported to have rammed his bike from the rear and the rider sustained serious injuries in the mishap.
Incidentally, there was traffic on the highway at the time of the mishap but not a single motorist was alert enough to note down the registration number plate of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run accident.
On receiving information, a Mapusa police team rushed to the spot and conducted a panchnama. The injured was first moved to the Mapusa district hospital and later referred to the GMC hospital at Bambolim.
