Pernem police on Wednesday arrested a 41-year-old Russian national in Morjim on charges of illegal possession of narcotics worth Rs 8.5 lakh.
According to Pernem Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, police were informed that a foreign national was involved in drug activities at Morjim.
Acting on information, PI Dalvi and a police team raided a guest house in Morjim and allegedly caught the Russian national, Dmitry Boldov, in possession of narcotics substance LSD and Ganja valued at Rs 8.5 lakh. The accused has been arrested under the NDPS Act.
PI Dalvi said the guest house owner had not filled the ‘C’ form of the accused foreign national and hence, another offence under Section 14 of Foreigners Act has been registered separately.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SDPO Gajanan Prabhudessai and SP North Shobit Saxena.
