Verna police have issued a lookout notice and Goa Police have formed teams from several police stations to conduct a search for the three robbers who attempted to break into an unoccupied bungalow in Zuarinagar-Sancoale.
The three robbers had fired two rounds at the police while escaping from the scene after the police reached just in time to foil their robbery bid. While one bullet missed the head of PSI Swapnil Naik, home guard Prahlad Naik was injured after the bullet struck the road and ricocheted on his knee.
"We have two photographs in the lookout notice, one of the culprits caught in the CCTV camera at Lotoulim and the other photograph is the one taken while they were attempting to escape after firing at the cops in Sancoale," said a police source.
"Secondly, Goa police have circulated the photographs across all police stations and besides this, the Goa Police have formed various teams under the leadership of police inspectors from Vasco, Verna, Mormugao, Maina Curtorim, Fatorda, Margao and Colva. These teams will be guided by the DySPs of Mormugao and Margao sub-divisions," said the source
Verna police has registered an offence against the accused under Sections 457, 380, 511 read with 34 IPC and section 3,25 of the Arms Act.
