Sunday saw strong contenders for the BJP ticket for the South Goa Lok seat, ex-MP Narendra Sawaikar and ex-Dy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar sharing the dais with BJP candidate Pallavi Dempo at Balli in Quepem constituency on Sunday.
In fact, while addressing the workers of Quepem Assembly segment, Kavlekar said he has tried to convince his supporters to bury the hatchet and work hard for the success of the party candidate in the May 7 Lok Sabha poll.
If ex-MP Narendra Sawaikar was a prominent speaker at the meetings with karyakartas in Margao and Fatorda on Saturday, the BJP leadership descended at the residence of Kavlekar before Pallavi Dempo kick started her campaign in Quepem constituency on Sunday evening.
Sources pointed out that the meeting at Kavlekar’s residence was attended by supporters of the ex-Dy CM, including elected representatives of the local bodies.
In fact, while addressing the party karyakartas at Balli on Sunday evening, Kavlekar made an appeal to the workers to brace up to work hard and to give a lead for the BJP candidate in the May 7 election.
Kavlekar recalled that the he and his workers were instrumental in giving a lead to the Congress candidate when he was associated with the Congress party. “Today, we have to all work hard to give a lead for the BJP in the coming election”, he told the workers.
