While the Goa Police on Sunday claimed initiation of an inquiry into the "missing" Delhi-registered Ford Endeavour, Sub Divisional Police Officer Jivba Dalvi has been appointed to conduct a detailed inquiry.
Superintendent of Police (North) Nidhin Valsan held a meeting with Dalvi on Monday, told The Goan that action will be initiated accordingly. "SDPO Dalvi will conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter and submit a report, based on which appropriate action will be taken," he said.
Sources however told The Goan that it is alleged that the car's components were sold while the Police Sub Inspector who had seized the vehicle in April 2023 was away for official training. Unaware of the developments during his refresher course, the PSI was reportedly shocked upon learning about the situation.
The role of a constable has come under scanner who was recently shifted from beat to general policing duty. The department has otherwise maintained silence over the controversy even as the whereabouts of the car, if not sold, is not traceable yet.
The car, seized by the police for lack of valid documents was driven to the PS where it was abandoned with other vehicles until it mysteriously disappeared, just two days after its fitness validity had ended last month.
