Semi-decomposed body found near Margao market

The Fatorda police have registered a case of unnatural death in connection with a body recovered near the Old Market Circle on Monday.
The body of a male person was found lying near the circle in a semi-decomposed state, raising questions over the exact cause of death.
While the police have registered a case of unnatural death, sources said the exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem examination scheduled on Tuesday.
Fatorda police said the inquiry revealed that the body was that of a male person aged about 40 to 45 years and was lying in a semi-decomposed condition.
The police further conducted an inquest panchanama over the dead body, and a preliminary inquiry revealed that the deceased was homeless, often loitering around the SGPDA Market, Margao, and was a chronic alcoholic.
Further, the dead body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, to conduct further medico-legal formalities.
