Sirlim hit-and-run: Police summon rent-a-cab owner

The Margao police investigating into Tuesday’s horrific Sirlim road accident has summoned the owner of the rent-a-cab service for investigations into the accident.

In another development, the police has decided to move for the cancellation of the driving licence of the accused 19-year old driver of the vehicle.

Margao Police station in-charge, PI Arun Desai has informed the media on Thursday that the police has summoned the rent-a-car owner for the purpose of investigations. He said the owner has been called for an inquiry to find out the vehicle registration besides permit to operate the rent-a-cab.

Saying the police has already booked the 19-year old vehicle driver for attempt to murder, he said the police is in the process of recording statements of witnesses and collecting evidence in the support of the case.

Meanwhile, PI Desai said the police would move for the cancellation of the driving license of the accused driver when the police file the charge sheet in the court after the investigations.
