A 47-year-old man from Maharashtra died after allegedly falling from a height while cleaning solar panels at a property in North Goa, highlighting the risks faced by workers involved in maintaining rooftop solar installations.

According to police, the incident came to light on May 26 at around 7 pm after Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, informed authorities that Mahesh Dalvi from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, had succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Police said Dalvi suffered critical injuries on May 23 after he allegedly fell while cleaning solar panels at Rajwado in Mapusa. He was admitted to GMC as a medico-legal case but later died during treatment. Police have registered the case as an unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The incident has once again drawn attention to the lack of adequate safety measures and protective equipment for workers engaged in the cleaning and maintenance of elevated solar panel systems, a sector that has seen rapid growth in recent years.
