In India, elections are often won by playing the religious card, creating divisions so politicians can rule. Recently, Thakur Raja Singh from Telangana came to Goa, stirring unrest. Now, some individuals within Goa are trying to divide Hindus and Catholics, but our Niz Goenkars have lived united for generations. Instead of spreading the true message of your faith, these forces are adding fuel to the fire. It appears the Hindu rastra mission is active here, seemingly with the silent support of the Goa Chief Minister, who has yet to take responsibility or action against such hateful statements in our state. What these so called outsiders know about the culture of Goa and Goans? We urge all political and religious leaders: leave Goans alone and allow us to live in peace. If you wish to play divisive politics, do so in your own states”not in Goa, where we celebrate each other’s festivals with love and respect. Let Goa remain a land of harmony, not hatred.
