As many as 149 passengers were left stranded at Dabolim airport for around 20 hours on account of a leakage in the fuel tank of their Dubai-bound plane in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to sources at Dabolim Airport, the incident took place at about 1 am when around 149 passengers were boarding an international flight which was scheduled to leave from Goa to Dubai.
“However as the passengers were boarding and the flight was being checked, the flight operators realised there was a technical snag as the fuel tank had developed a leak,” said the source.
“The flight operators then immediately deboarded the passengers and informed them about the incident. The passengers were later provided hotel arrangements, while work began to repair the fuel tank. The airlines informed the passengers that the issue would be resolved and that the flight would depart at 4 pm on Saturday but the flight did not leave till around 6 pm,” the source added.
The flight later left Dabolim airport at about 7 pm, but with only around 107 passengers.
