A 17-year-old boy has been sent to Apna Ghar’s remand home on charges of allegedly raping his neighbour, an underage girl. Both reside in a posh residential society in the outskirts of Panaji and are known to each other.
“Both are badminton players and one of them has been participating in state tournaments,” sources said.
The victim, aged 15 years and eight months, was found to be 24 weeks pregnant, which prompted police intervention.
Police sources said that the victim’s parents took her to Goa Medical College where doctors confirmed she was pregnant. Subsequently, an FIR was registered at the women’s police station, after which the boy was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board at Apna Ghar, which sent him to remand home.
