The Crime Branch, investigating the cases, stated the accused allegedly targeted victims over a period of nearly three years.  Naik, a resident of Madhegal in Cacora, was arrested on March 21 following protests outside the Curchorem Police Station, where locals had gathered demanding action in the matter.
