Stating that he gives equal importance to the development of all constituencies in the State, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said some MLAs from the Opposition parties have, however, created unnecessary hurdles in developmental activities.

He was speaking at Mapusa at a programme organised by the district office of BJP following the declaration of Dayanand Karbotkar as having been elected unopposed as North Goa District President of the BJP.

Union Minister Shripad Naik, State BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Saligao MLA Kedar Naik, Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo, Mayem MLA Premendra Shet, former MLA Dayanand Sopte, former MLA Siddharth Kunkoliencar and other party officials were also present on the occasion.

Speaking further, Sawant said Karbotkar has been working for the party for the last 26 years. “BJP always recognises and acknowledges workers who work sincerely for the party. A worker has the full right to put forth suggestions or grievances to the party, but they should voice their suggestions or grievance on the right platform and not in public places,” said Sawant.

Stating that the party desires the participation of youths in the party organisation, Sawant made it clear that the party would not sideline seniors but they will be appointed to suitable posts.

Tanavade accused the Congress party of amending the constitution from time to time for its own selfishness and always played politics of falsehood. “On the contrary, the BJP has worked only for the progress of the country,” said Tanavade.

Newly elected district president Karbotkar thanked everyone for the trust shown by the party, party state president and chief minister and assured to strive for the betterment of the party.
