Sonsodo fires: Margao civic body questions Pollution Control Board fine of Rs 1 crore

MARGAO
The Margao Municipal Council on Thursday questioned the fine of Rs 1 crore raised by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB), questioning how the civic body can be blamed for the damage caused to the environment because of the Sonsodo fires.

The City Fathers wondered how can the GSPCB hold the civic body responsible for the actions of the citizens for setting waste on fire in the city, saying the Municipality should challenge the notice.
