As the day-long tour of South Goa Lok Sabha constituency culminated at Margao on Wednesday evening with a meeting with professionals, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said South Goa would not be left neglected, saying a mega Essel World-type project is on the anvil in South Goa.
During his interaction with the professionals, the Chief Minister announced that the heritage Hospicio building will be converted into a museum. He further reiterated his government’s commitment to set up a private medical college under NITI Ayog at the South Goa District Hospital during 2024-25.
Admitting that the people of Goa are facing hardships in obtaining construction licences to build individual houses, the Chief Minister promised to cut short the time frame for the licences within the next two months.
Reassuring the people of South Goa that the government will not neglect the district on the development front, the Chief Minister said a private university will soon take shape in Quepem taluka in the coming days. He said the Essel World-type project will be set up at the Naqueir-Quitol land acquired by the government for the Goa Industrial Development Corporation.
Referring to the land admeasuring over one lakh square metres acquired at Davorlim by the government under the leadership of then Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Sawant said the process to set up an education hub in the village by shifting the Margao-based schools there will soon be set in motion.
Allaying fears of the shutdown of the Dabolim airport, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to ensuring that Dabolim continues functioning. On the issue of corruption raised by some members of the audience, the Chief Minister later told the media, “Minor corruption may be here and there, but the government is committed to putting a stop to corruption through e-governance.”
