With many areas in Bicholim yet to vaccinate 50 per cent of their people, a meeting was convened to boost the vaccination drive so that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s target of 100 per cent vaccination in the State would be achieved.
Speaker and Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar with Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye met with elected representatives and prominent people in those areas where the vaccination coverage has been below 50%.
Among those present at the meeting included Bicholim Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit, Bicholim Municipal Council Chairperson Kundan Falari, councillors Riyaz Beig and Gunjan Korgoankar, One-Maulinguem Sarpanch Sheetal Sawant, Mayem Deputy Sarpanch Krishna Parab, State Covid Task Force member Dr Shekhar Salkar, Mayem PHC incharge Dr Siddhi Kansar and representatives of different organisations.
There were discussions the need to create greater awareness so that more people could get themselves vaccinated to achieve 100% vaccination in the State.
Dr Salkar agreed to attend meetings to clarify misconceptions and persuade people to take the vaccine.
The elected representatives and representatives of organisations assured to support the government in this initiative.
