Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade has urged the Centre to create an independent postal circle for Goa, saying the state would benefit from operating separately instead of being part of a joint circle with Maharashtra.

Speaking at a press conference, Tanavade outlined several Goa-related issues he raised during the recently concluded Parliament session. He said the Centre has extended financial support to the State Forest Department to help farmers tackle crop damage caused by wild animals.

“The funds will be used for measures such as protective barriers and planting fruit-bearing trees to deter wild animals from entering farmlands,” he said.

The MP also highlighted concerns over the low number of beneficiaries under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme in Goa. “Although ₹6,000 per year is provided to farmers under the scheme, only around 6,000 farmers in Goa are availing of it. Many are tenants or cultivate on communidade land and are not recognised as eligible. I have urged the Centre to include such farmers,” he said.

On infrastructure, Tanavade said that work on the Goa“Mumbai highway will be expedited.

He further informed that the recent Rajya Sabha session was held in phases from January 28 to February 13 and March 9 to April 2, with the next phase set to begin on April 16.
