Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday said, action will be taken if there are illegalities involved in the case of hill cutting at Cuncolim which MLA Yuri Alemao has written to him about.
Rane said, he has received the letter from Alemao and he has forwarded it to Chief Town Planner, Rajesh Naik, with instructions to take stringent actions against illegalities if any.
Rane said, wherever illegalities are pointed out there will be no let up and strict action will be taken whoever may be involved.
Meanwhile, Rane’s decision asking Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik to take action vis-Ã -vis the Cuncolim hillock has raised hopes that the government would stop further destruction of the hillock for housing.
Moments after Rane told the media that he has taken cognizance of the complaints on the Cancanamoddi hill cutting at Cuncolim, Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao has welcomeD the TCP Minster’s statement, and hoped for positive action in the matter.
While thanking the TCP Minister for directing the CTP to take action in the hill cutting as per the law, Yuri said “I hope justice is done in the matter. The hill has been destroyed and hence I demand that the government book the violators involved in the destruction”.
Last week, anticipating that the government would use pressure tactics on the Cuncolim Municipal Chief Officer to revoke the "Stop Work Order" issued for Cacanamoddi Hill Cutting, Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao has dashed of a letter to TCP & Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane seeking his urgent intervention to review the permissions granted by TCP and maintaining status quo on the Stop Work Order issued by Cuncolim Civic body.
Yuri has pointed out to TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane about the plots development started by some developers by destroying a Hillock in Cancanamoddi in Cuncolim. Yuri has also mentioned about the Developers claims of having obtained all permissions from the Town and Country Planning Department to take up the developmental work of plots.
Meanwhile, Rane said, the TCP Board has taken a decision to mark 100 metres buffer zone around all notified heritage sites in Goa on the Regional Plan and if the illegal construction at Old Goa comes within this buffer zone it will be dealt with.
He said, although there is an order from the court related to the said structure, the government will not back off from appealing before the Supreme Court if the said structure falls within the buffer zone.
