Team inspects Vasco over suspected dengue cases

VASCO
The core committee of the State Task Force for the Control of Vector Borne Diseases undertook a joint inspection of sites at Vaddem and New Vaddem in Vasco, to take stock of the ground situation of the increase in suspected dengue cases.

The team, which was led by National Vector Borne Diseases Control Program (NVBDCP) State Programme Officer Dr Kalpana Mahatme and GOACAN Co-ordinator Roland Martins, had representatives from the offices of the Mormugao Municipal Council, Labour Department, PWD, WRD DHS and Taluka Mamlatdar.

During the site inspection, the team identified lapses in compliance of various acts and rules of the labour department and violations of conditions laid down in no-objection certificates and licences issued by the Mormugao Municipal Council and the Urban Health Centre.

The team also noticed that the advisory issued to control vector-borne diseases was not followed due to lack of proper coordination by the site supervisors at the building sites.
