The High Court of Telangana is likely to hear a petition by Edwin Nunes of the controversial Curlies shack, on Wednesday that challenges the Metropolitan Court’s order dismissing his anticipatory bail application. The Anjuna-based businessman is wanted in a drugs case by Hyderabad-Narcotics Enforcement Wing and the Osmania University police.
“The matter is likely to be heard tomorrow (Wednesday),” his lawyer told The Goan.
The suspected drug dealer, currently in hiding, is also wanted by Anjuna police for allegedly forging his COVID-19 test report, an attempt to escape arrest by Hyderabad police last week.
A team of Hyderabad police led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Sunitha Reddy and the Goa Police has so far failed to track his whereabouts. The Anjuna police have already moved the local court in Mapusa seeking cancellation of his bail in another drug offense wherein they recovered the contraband substance from the toilet of the restaurant-shack-pub/bar joint, raided following the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat on August 23.
Meanwhile, Pritesh Borkar, who was the first to be arrested by the Hyderabad police from Goa in the inter-state drug bust and is currently in judicial lock-up, is likely to approach the court in Telangana seeking bail.
Other suspected drug peddlers and dealers in Goa, who have been named by Borkar in his confession to the Hyderabad police, have also gone into hiding. Sources said places linked to these suspects are being searched and those known to him are being interrogated.
Besides, the demolition order against the Curlies shack will also be heard in the Supreme Court.
