Saligao MLA Kedar Naik has stated that the tender to construct a 15MLD water treatment plant at Pilerne will be issued soon.
“Once this water treatment plant is commissioned, the water problem of residents in Reis Magos and Nerul will be resolved. Similarly, a new power sub-station is coming up at Pilerne and work on this new power sub-station will start after Diwali,” said Naik.
He was addressing a gathering after launching work to construct a retaining wall and widening of the road at Vallant“Betim in the presence of the Reis Magos Sarpanch Sushma Pednekar, ZP Member Sandeep Bandodkar, panch member Subhash Pednekar, Prasanna Nagvekar and locals.
The Saligao MLA said the 200-mtre stretch of road at Vallant-Betim is very narrow and there is a sharp curve at the end of the road on account of which there is a possibility of vehicles falling in the fields, especially during the night.
“Two trucks have already fallen in the field during the night and hence there was a persistent demand to widen and construct a retaining wall at this place from Reis Magos panchayat as well as locals,” said Naik. “The PWD will construct a 200-metre-long retaining wall at a cost of Rs 46 lakh. The panchayat has requested the landlord concerned to donate a few metres of his land to widen the road. As soon as permission is received from the landlord, work to widen of road will begin. The construction of a retaining wall will be taken up after widening the road and then, hot-mixing of this road will be taken up,” said Naik.
Sarpanch Sushmita Pednekar and panch member Prasanna Nagvekar also spoke on the occasion.
