Colvale Police booked three persons for cheating a doctor from Tivim of Rs 8.67 lakh on the pretext of offering Rs 93 lakh in order to purchase medical equipment.
The accused have been identified as Sushant Kantak a resident of Margao, Anant Walawalkar of Sindhudurg and Mugdha Kamat from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra.
According to Mapusa SDPO, Jivba Dalvi, the accused Sushant introduced to the doctor the other two accused as bank officials dealing in loan approval.
The two accused convinced the doctor to make payment of Rs 8.67 lakh in the personal bank account of Anant as insurance and other charges to obtain the Rs 93 lakh loan.
Colvale Police registered an FIR against the trio under Section 419, 420 r/w 34 of the IPC.
Further investigation is in progress.
