MAPUSA
Within 27 days of his joining the TMC, former councillor of Mapusa Municipal Council and social worker, Tushar Tople resigned from the party on Tuesday but admitted that voters of Mapusa were looking for a third option this time around.
Tople also said that joining and working with the Trinamool Congress was a good learning curve in his political career.
He said he attended almost 150 corner meetings and got an opportunity to meet and interact with several people from different backgrounds.
“I found it extremely difficult to convince people that I was going to contest on the TMC ticket. Most of the people I met wanted me to contest on the MGP ticket instead. They were not ready to accept my explanation about the nuances of coalition politics. I therefore decided to bow down to the sentiments of the people of Mapusa and resign from the TMC,” Tople said.
The former councillor was addressing a news conference along with his supporters in a city hotel in Mapusa.
