Two more deaths takes Covid tally to 705

Two Covid-related deaths were recorded in the mortality bulletin of the Health Department on Saturday raising the total Covid victim count of the state to 705.

 Both the deaths occurred at Goa medical College and Hospital in Bambolim and in both cases, Covid was an incidental finding. 

While in the case of one patient, the primary cause of death was cancer with metastasis; in case of the other deceased patient it was advanced liver disease.

A total of 70 new cases of the infection were detected in the last 24 hours from among the 2,069 samples tested taking the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Goa so far to 49,305. Of these, only 1,111 cases are presently active while 47,489 patients have already recovered. The recovery rate stands at 96.31 per cent.

SANGUEMThe Covid pandemic did not deter a high voter turnout, as 73.5% of the voters participated in the polls to Rivona ZP constituency in Sanguem taluka, which took place peacefully with no untoward incident being reported at any of the 28 polling booths.The highest turnout was recorded at Booth 24, which incidentally is located in the hilly area of Nunem ward of Netravali, where 510 of a total 559 voters cast their ballots, recording a poll percentage of 91.23%.
