Pernem police arrested two persons in connection with a burglary at a house in Paliem-Pernem.
According to Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi, Hari Palyekar had filed a police complaint on December 31, 2020, stating that burglars had broken into house and had stolen jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh and cash of Rs 22,000.
PI Dalvi said a case was registered and police teams were formed to collect intelligence.
Two persons, Ganesh Mhapsekar (23) of Nachinola and Firoz Mirawaz of Hubli but residing at Karaswada-Mapusa, were detained by police and during interrogation, confessed to the crime.
They have been arrested and a court has remanded them to three days in police custody.
Police also recovered all the stolen gold jewellery which was found melted and sold to a jewellery shop in Mapusa Market. Further police investigations are in progress.
