Urban Development Minister Milind Naik said the people of Mormugao taluka would benefit with the connection of the up and down ramps to the port connectivity project.
"There should be no confusions and people must not be misguided. The up-ramp from Vasco will be strictly one way from Vasco to get on the four-lane road, while the down-ramp from Baina will two-way for people to enter or exit from Baina on this road,” said Naik.
“The up-ramp from Vasco will not lead to the port and so, there will be no question of heavy vehicles using the up-ramp to enter the port.”
He informed that while the entire project will be ready soon, only one section of the 4-lane highway connecting the port will be delayed.
“This is because, MPT initially said that railway tracks will be removed to accommodate the bridge span but now the plans had to be changed after it was not possible and we had to redesign the plans and also take up additional work.”
“While the project will be ready soon, the up and down ramps will take around 10 months to complete and the entry to the port could take around 20 months," said Naik.
