In this pandemic the ultimate and final weapon is vaccination and all the people should eliminate the fear from their mind and take a step for their own and others vaccination. By not taking the vaccine we are putting ourselves in trouble and also our family members as well, appeals the IMD Goa president Dr Vinayak Buvaji on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day.
In a press note issued on the occasion, IMD Goa State branch recalled that the National Doctors Day in India commemorates the iconic and internationally renowned medical practitioner, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy who served as a physician, freedom fighter, an educationist and a politician from west Bengal.
Dr Buvaji says, “We have been through the highest peak of the second wave of this deadly Covid-19 disease of this century. All the medical fraternity doing extraordinary human service during Covid pandemic is celebrating July 1 as Doctors Day in remembrance of the veteran service of Dr B C Roy.”
The difficult times amid Covid 19 have once again reminded us about the contributions and sacrifices made by doctors and the health care staff around the globe on a daily basis. The pandemic has been hard on doctors and paramedic staff as well because they have even lost their close family members to the virus. In spite of this doctors have worked with utmost spirit and dedication untiringly in the hour of crisis. Managing a critically ill Covid patient in the ICU is physically, mentally and emotionally taxing for a doctor. Doctors in spite of this have to show empathy towards the patients and their relatives while also detaching themselves emotionally to work in a professional manner, adds the IMD Goa press note.
In honour of this noble profession, Doctors Day is celebrated on different dates across the world. It is celebrated in India on 1st July every year and it is organised by the Indian Medical Association every year. “This year is once again dedicated to all those doctors and health care professionals who are serving in these trying times by risking their lives in primary, secondary care setups or in dedicated Covid care centres,” points out Dr Buvaji.
The IMD Goa president appeals to the public to respect, protect and safeguard doctors.
