Hacker disrupts online learning in Candolim school

MAPUSA
Just a week into the new academic year, a Candolim-based school had to shut down a virtual class after a hacker disrupted an online learning lecture with vulgar images on Wednesday morning.

Calangute police have registered an offence against an unknown person for disrupting an online class under the Information Technology Act 2000.

Police informed that at around 11.30 am when the school teacher began her online class with around eight students, someone hacked into the account and began playing pornographic clips.

The teacher was left with no option but to end the class abruptly.

The school management later lodged a complaint with Calangute Police, stating that an unknown person had hacked the online class link and started playing objectionable videos.

Calangute PI Nolasco Raposo informed that an offence has been registered under Section 67 (A) of the Information Technology Act 2000 against an unknown person. Further investigation is on.

The incident comes at a time when online learning has become the discourse among educationists and officials. It also comes at a time when students in remote areas are struggling to study and have to even brave the forested areas to get good coverage.
