A speeding jeep driven by Wison de Araujo of St Cruz ran over a biker, allegedly while attempting to overtake other vehicles at Agassaim on Sunday evening.
The biker, identified as Rajesh Naik (39), a resident of Vananapuri in Vasco, died instantly. His wife, who was riding pillion, was seriously injured and is admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim.
Miraculously, their child, who was also on the bike, escaped without any injuries but has been admitted to the GMC hospital for observation.
De Araujo, after running over Naik’s bike, also rammed the jeep into another parked vehicle, Agassaim police said, adding that he has been arrested. Further investigation is ongoing.
