Vax gap for teachers, non-teaching staff reduced to six weeks

PANAJI
In another development, the Goa government has reduced the vaccination gap for teaching and non-teaching staff in colleges and schools in the state to six weeks.

“We want to see that all teaching and non-teaching staff are vaccinated,” stated Dr Anup Netravalkar.

A health official said the target is to finish vaccination of teachers and non-teaching staff before Teachers’ Day (Sept 5). The principal or headmaster will be certifying teaching and non-teaching staff for schools and colleges making them eligible for vaccination,” the official said.

The move is expected to clear the path for re-opening of schools in the offline mode, once teaching and non-teaching staff are fully vaccinated.

The new announcement may add fuel to the already circulating speculations on social media, whether the gap between the two does have any relation to the non-availability of the vaccines or their efficacy.
