Vijai moves private member bill for 80% quota for locals in private firms

PANAJI

Goa Forward Party MLA Vijay Sardesai on Thursday said he has given a notice to present a private member bill in the upcoming monsoon session of the state assembly to guarantee 80 percent reservation for locals in the private sector.

Vijay Sardessai has termed the bill as The Goa State Employment of local Candidates Bill 2022 Bill.

Sardessai shared a notice given to the speaker on his twitter account.

"I hereby give notice to move a motion for introduction of the bill. The Goa State Employment of Local Candidates Bill 2022 in this session (sitting date July 15, 2022)", says the notice.

"The marginalisation of local #Goan youth from employment opportunities in #Goa must end. I’ve again given notice to move a Private Member Bill that will guarantee 80% job reservation for locals in the private sector. No #Goan must be forced to abandon their home to seek work elsewhere,” said Sardessai.

This is the second time Sardessai has moved such a bill, after moving a same bill in January 2021.

The Revolutionary Goans Party has already announced that they will introduce a Person Of Goan Origin (POGO) bill in the assembly session for preference to Goans.
