The State government on Thursday gave additional charge of the Department of Geology and Mines to Suresh Shanbhogue who will officiate as its director in addition to his current position as Director of Civil Aviation.
The order giving Shanbogue the additional charge of Director of Geology and Mines was issued on Friday by the Personnel Department.
The appointment gains significance at a juncture when the sector is in the throes of a crucial transition to restart the economically important iron ore mining activity after it had ground to a halt since April 2018.
