MARGAO
The reported violation of the ban on Housie in South Goa may leave citizens baffled, more so with the ban imposed by the South Goa district Collector Egna Cleetus publicly ratified by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
In fact, the Chief Minister had told the media during his visit to the Margao a week ago that Housie in the present form, with huge financial stakes involved, cannot be accepted and will not be allowed by the government.
The Chief Minister’s statement had indicated that the government means business in cracking a whip on Housie and sent a strong signal that the Collector’s ban has the backing of the government. Two Housie games in as many days in the district has only left many a question unanswered.
