VP Naidu visits Shripad in GMC; PM calls to enquire about health

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday paid a visit to Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik, who is recuperating at Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim after undergoing series of surgeries and medical procedures following a car accident on January 11, at Hillur-Hoskambi village in Ankola, Karnataka. Naik’s wife, Vijaya and his close aide, Deepak Ghume, lost their lives in the mishap.

VP Naidu visited GMC at 10.30 am on Friday and wished Naik a speedy recovery. Naidu later also spoke to the GMC team treating Naik.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had previously asked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to rush to Goa upon hearing about the accident, on Friday called and spoke to Naik. Modi urged Naik to take utmost care.

Meanwhile, GMC Dean Dr S M Bandekar has said that Naik is recovering well. “All his vital parameters including his blood pressure, pulse rate and oxygen saturation levels are within normal limits. Left elbow passive mobilisation has started today. Bed side sitting and lower limb mobilisation have been done by a physiotherapist,” Dr Bandekar stated in a press release.
