A restaurant manager from West Bengal has been arrested by Anjuna police on charges of sexually assaulting a bar attendant of the restaurant in Assagao after promising her marriage.
According to reports, Mainul Sahan Choudhary had befriended the bar attendant and on the promise of marriage, sexually assaulted the victim multiple times between December 5, 2023 and December 28, 2023. The accused then left the job and moved out of the State.
The victim then lodged a complaint with the Anjuna police, and a police team went to the residence of the suspect in West Bengal to arrest the suspect. But he could not be found there.
Police then got information that the suspect was in Nagpur-Maharashtra. Accordingly, Police Sub-Inspector Swapnil Naik, Constable Abhishek Kasar, Sudhir Sawant with the help of Nagpur Police nabbed the suspect and brought him to Goa. He was arrested under Section 376 of IPC.
A Mapusa court remanded the accused to three days in police custody and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Sneha Sawal.
