High-end drugs worth Rs 25 lakh recovered from duo at Arambol
PANAJI
The Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) arrested two youths from Kerala for allegedly possessing and peddling high-end LSD blots valued at Rs 25 lakhs in Arambol.
This crackdown follows closely on the heels of the recent arrest of a Nigerian national, who was caught in similar illicit activities at Arpora.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Nerlon Albuquerque, overseeing the investigation, revealed that Mohd Basi Mechari, aged 26 years, and Murshid Mustafa Kalangura, 24, were caught red-handed with a massive 250 high-quality triple dip LSD blots.
“These drugs are three times stronger, more effective, and much more dangerous. The accused had trafficked these drugs to sell at a higher price in Goa,” the officer said.
The duo had been living at Arambol since December 2023 with several outdoor stage decoration projects in hand. “They were decorating stages for outdoor parties. They came to Goa with an intention to distribute the contraband into the party circuit,” the officer said, hinting at inter-state nexus into the case.
On February 25, the ANC cracked down on a similar drug racket by arresting Nigerian Innocent Okezuonu Anaemem from Arpora. The accused, having several cases including the violent clash between police-Nigerians in Porvorim in 2013, was caught with a cocktail of drugs, worth Rs 74.75 lakhs in the international market.
