The Zuari Indian Oil Tanking Ltd which is presently storing fuel in tanks at Sancoale has mentioned that efforts are underway to locate any pipeline leakage if any that may have led to contamination of the Dabolim well.
ZIOTL CEO Shriprasad Nayak said that the pipelines have been shut down presently and more agencies have been deployed to investigate any leakage in the pipelines.
" We got to know of the contamination of streams when we were working at the contaminated well. We immediately mobilised our team and are using absorbent pads to clear and control the contamination from the stream and prevent it from moving further . We have also cordoned the area and we will have two dedicated teams at the well and the stream till the issue is not cleared," said Nayak.
" We have already deployed various techniques to find any fault and it may take some time. An agency from Delhi also has begun survey but we have kept our pipelines shut since November 22. We have been directed by the Adminstration that we need to find the fault , rectify it and submit a report after which they will take the further decision on the pipelines . The ground water from the well may have gone to the stream but we have shut down all pipelines so the issue of fresh contamination does not arise. As of now we have two aspects , where we have to control any reported contamination and rectify any issue with the pipeline if any . We will need maximum of two days time to rectify the situation, once the fault is found" said Nayak.
