Will ensure illegal structure is demolished: Amit Palekar

PANAJI

After the Old Goa Panchayat revoked permission for the Old Goa illegal structure on Thursday, Aam Aadmi Party leader Amit Palekar claimed that the people won again. He also vowed to ensure that the illegal structure is demolished.
Feeling the heat of the citizens protesting against the illegal construction project at the protected site of Old Goa, the Old Goa Panchayat on Thursday revoked the permission given to the illegal structure.
Reacting to this Palekar said, "In the wake of the meeting and inspection held by the officials, the permission which was granted to the owners of illegal structures has been revoked."
"I have been constantly following up with the Panchayat secretary and he has assured me that the notice which was sent to them by me will get necessary answer from them," he added.
"I can assure you one thing that the legal battle to demolish the structure and raise it to the ground and restore the entire property has started. The protesters who have been associated with the battle against the illegal structure will get justice", he said.
He further said, "We will also ask the Panchayat to demarcate the zones which are protected so that no such illegal activities ever should come within the precinct of the the heritage site; not only in Old Goa but across the state."
