MARGAO Has the government acted on the recommendation made by Executive Engineer, Water Resources Department (WRD), Ankush Gaunkar to conduct a model study by an expert hydrologist to avoid the worst circumstance in future that may occur at Benaulim on account of development along the banks of river Sal?
This recommendation was made by the WRD Executive Engineer to the government following a report compiled by the WRD Assistant engineer, Sainath M. Jamakhandi made it categorically clear in his report that the possibility of disaster to life, livelihood and property of the local inhabitants in future needs to be considered before going ahead with the construction of the western bypass on embankments along the Benaulim stretch.
In fact, WRD Assistant Engineer Sainath had concluded here is a high possibility of flood waters to rise at magnified level in the future if the western bypass is constructed on embankment filling for the remaining portion from the railway line till Khareband-Varca road.
