The newly elected attorney, Dr Shivanand Gauns rued the fact that youngsters were not coming forward to take part in the comunidade affairs.
“The younger generation is not interested. We tried tirelessly to bring them on board but they just refused to come forward. Our aim now is to induct them as trainees so that they can work with us as substitutes,” Gauns said.
He said once the youngsters are trained and they know what the processes and procedures are, they will get the confidence to carry on with the work.
“Our main aim is to create a second generation force to take over the task. It has been traditionally and continuously run by old senior people. We want to induct the younger generation. Our aim is to create a second rung leadership,” he said.
On the corruption charge on comunidades, Gauns said this accusation was not entirely wrong and such allegations are there on many comunidades.
“Our aim is to get rid of all these things (corruption et al) and streamline everything,” he said.
